First day back

No students yet, but we're on session for 3 days of teacher in-services. Today is the more boring day: going over policies and procedures. There's a pretty decent vibe: there's a lot of new stuff (a new attendance and grading system, only some modules of which are up; a lot of new paperwork, new academy system) with some typical grumblin, but nothing too extreme. Also, I dig the new attendance system: I've already seen my class rosters, and I can access the web front-end through my phone.

I spent much of last week preparing for national boards, which was a pretty energizing experience. My principal just mentioned that the school is starting a committee for community outreach, which from a purely mercenary perspective can be a great help for me, since I need to document more ways in which I'm connecting to community, as part of my national boards.

So, it looks like a good year forming.
